Kindergarten Screening

Each student entering the Needham Public Schools will participate in the Kindergarten Screening Process.

Both Massachusetts and Federal laws require screening as a process to understand the development of all children participating in kindergarten.  Kindergarten screening does not determine eligibility for kindergarten, nor is it a test of IQ or school readiness.  The information will be used for teachers to gather some initial information about your child in order to prepare for a successful start to the upcoming school year.  The Kindergarten Screening Process will take place in the spring.  You will receive notice of your child’s screening appointment from your child’s school later this school year.
